FROM A USEFUL IDEA TO A CLEAR AGREEMENT

Find help. Offer a skill. Get it done.

Start with what needs doing, agree what each person will provide, and keep the work in one place.

When you need a hand.

  1. Describe the result.

Choose a category, explain the work and say whether it is online or local. Add the timing, relevant skills and your proposed money budget, time exchange or volunteer arrangement. Save a draft while you work out the details.

  2. Compare the people.

Review profiles, relevant skills, ratings and proposals. Ask about experience and any checks the actual task requires. A profile photo or high rating does not establish suitability for every job.

  3. Agree before starting.

Confirm the scope, timing and any relevant AI use. For a time exchange, confirm both tasks and the equal time each person will give. Accepting a proposal opens a shared workroom.

  4. Review the work.

Keep questions and updates in the workroom. Review the delivery against the agreement and request changes if needed. Accept work when the agreed result has been delivered.

When you have a skill to share.

  1. Create and activate your account.

Use an email address you can access and follow the activation email before logging in. You must be at least 18.

  2. Build a useful profile.

Choose your categories and skills, describe your experience, add a profile photo and say where you can work. You can show that you are open to time exchanges and volunteering.

  3. Find the right fit.

Respond to a suitable job with a specific proposal, or list a service that explains what is included, when it can be delivered and what you ask in return.

  4. Deliver and keep the record.

Use the shared workroom for the agreement, updates and delivery. In a time exchange, both people submit their own work and accept the work they receive.

Make the exchange clear.

For money-based work, agree the amount, currency and payment arrangements directly with the other person. HourHelpers currently records work agreements; it does not process payments, hold funds, provide escrow or pay helpers.

For direct time exchange, each person gives the same number of minutes. There is no cash price or transferable credit balance. The exchange completes when both deliveries have been accepted by the person receiving them.

For volunteering, both sides confirm there is no pay or work owed in return. Either participant can end the voluntary arrangement. No commission or cash earnings are created.

Take care with local work.

Confirm the location, safe access, who will be present and any qualifications, registration, insurance or safeguarding checks required for the arrangement. Agree expenses and cancellations before work begins.

Childcare and other work with children need particular care. Requirements depend on the work and the country or local area. Time exchange and volunteering do not remove those requirements.
